Zebra Technologies, a leader in rugged mobile computers, barcode scanners and barcode printers, is working with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), providing new specialized healthcare technology solutions to enable the digital transformation of the emirate’s healthcare sector. As part of the DHA’s new Salama unified electronic medical record (EMR) system, the new collaboration with Zebra provides enhanced patient identification and mobile access to medicaldata – from patient admission to bedside to discharge.

Qasim Yousef Qasim Abuhantash, SALAMA Program Director said, “Salama has been introduced across all DHA facilities ahead of schedule and is already making a vital contribution to the digital healthcare sector. Zebra is playing an important role in supporting the implementation of Salama, improving patient safety through identity solutions, and helping our healthcare professionalshave mobile access to patient records within DHA facilities.”

Zebra manages the deployment of a broad range of healthcare solutions including Zebra MC40-HC healthcare purposed mobile computers, Zebra DS8178-HC scanner, Zebra QLn220-HC and HC100  printers as well as  Z-Band UltraSoft wristbands. These products are specifically designed to meet the unique demands of the healthcare environment, in conjunction with DHA’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and clinical team requirements.

“This deployment with the DHA, one of Zebra’s largest healthcare implementations in the Middle East region, demonstrates the adoption of clinical mobility to enhance the quality of care and showcases the digital transformation of healthcare in Dubai. We worked closely with DHA’s technology team and clinical staff to ensure the smooth integration of the entire range of digital solutions,” stated Thamer Nouri, Business Development Manager, Zebra Technologies Middle East.

DHA launched the Salama system in April 2017 to provide patients and doctors with access to medical records (patient medical history, treatment and test results) through an electronic patient portal. Zebra’s healthcare solutions have been deployed across all DHA’s four hospitals, specialty centers and 13 primary healthcare centers across the Emirate of Dubai.
