Review: AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3

Keeping your data safe and secure is very important and one of the first tasks to keeping data secure is backing it up as frequently as possible. A wide range of backup and restore solutions are available on the market that assist users in backing up their data in a timely fashion.

Once such solution is AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3 – it is a backup, sync, restore and clone solution made for PCs running any of these operating systems – Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, and XP. The company does not offer a Mac version as yet.

Since the software comes with a graphical interface, using it is quite intuitive. With the AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3 software, you will be able to backup your documents, directories, hard disk drives and partitions according to the schedule you created. In addition, you can specify the type of backup you are interested in, be it full, incremental or differential.

The software also allows you to restore data, in an event your existing data gets corrupted due to hardware failure or malware infection. With the AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3, you can not only restore your data, but you can also clone disks and partitions.

The software also allows you to create bootable rescue media and it also checks backups images for data integrity. Even the partition that Windows is installed to can be backed up with AOMEI Backupper. This works by using the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), which allows a backup to run without having to shut down the computer or close open files.

Once the backup is created, it is saved as an AFI file, which can then be saved to a local drive, network folder, or external drive. If you’re performing a partition or disk clone instead of a regular backup, the only destinations available, of course, are another partition or hard drive.

AOMEI 2While backing up data, you can choose to exclude custom subfolders and file types from a backup using wildcards. The data backup can also be encrypted and password protected for added security. We found the software to be very intuitive to use – running a full, differential, or incremental backup took just a couple of clicks.

Supported storage devices include: IDE, SATA, SCSI disk, SSD, USB external hard drives and removable flash drives, hardware RAID, including RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10. The software also supports network-attached storage (NAS) and shared network drives, Hyper-V, Virtual box, and VMware virtual disk, among others.

While the AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3 is a very advanced backup solution, the makers of the software have made sure that using it is as intuitive and simple as possible. For a price tag of $49.95 for a 2-PC license with lifetime free upgrades, the AOMEI Backupper Professional 4.0.3 comes across as a highly recommended backup solution.
