LG Announces the new G6 at MWC 2017

Reporting from Barcelona, Spain: LG has finally taken the wraps off its much-awaited flagship – the LG G6. The new phone was launched a day before MWC 2017 officially kicks off in Barcelona, Spain. The new G6 features a 5.7-inch display with the screen taking up just over 80 percent of the front of the phone.

It is a  2K display, meaning double the resolution of high definition and the phone runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor under the hood. The phone can play high dynamic range (HDR) content. HDR is an image which makes the whites brighter and black colours darker.

The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back. It features a front-facing 5-megapixel selfie camera with a 100 degree wide angle lens. This allows for group pictures. There is a dual lens camera setup on the back of the phone.

The G6’s dual-camera module is powered by Sony’s 13-megapixel IMX258, with the f/1.8 main camera featuring optical stabilization plus a 71-degree field of view, and the f/2.4 wide camera looking at 125 degrees. The phone runs Android 7, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. This means it also has Google Assistant built-in.

Other specs of the device include 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB of UFS 2.0 storage, microSD expansion, dual microphones, USB 3.1, NFC and LTE downlink of up to 600 Mbps. No regional pricing has been announced.
