Networking infrastructure vendor Cisco has announced that Ziad Salameh has been appointed as MD to lead its operations in Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain Levant, Pakistan and Iraq and Middle East Services.

The company said Ziad will focus on driving growth for Cisco as it supports Middle East countries in building a robust national broadband infrastructure.

Mike Weston, vice president, Cisco Middle East commented: “As the Middle East charts the course for economic transformation, the future of the region lies in the ability of private and public sector organisations to set a bold technological agenda and take the initiative on transformational projects that harness the power of Internet to bring about meaningful change. Cisco has a focused agenda to support Middle East organisations to embrace this change through technology and given his proven credentials in helping to identify opportunities for development and growth, Ziad is rightly placed to lead our next phase of growth in the Gulf, Levant, Pakistan and Iraq.”

Salameh also commented, “I feel honoured to have been chosen to lead Cisco’s business in the Gulf, Levant, Pakistan and Iraq given the important and integral role these countries have in Cisco’s strategy for growth in the Middle East region. To realise the true opportunity of the Internet of Everything era countries and economic systems must become fully digitised and I look forward to leading the country teams in engaging closely with governments and organisations throughout the GLPI region to help them develop agile IT models as well as re-think their core processes for the digital era.”

Ziad is a seasoned Cisco veteran. He joined Cisco as director, Services Sales, Saudi Arabia in 2009 and, since then, has made business transformation and innovation his key priorities. Prior to joining Cisco, Ziad held a number of roles at a variety of companies such as Standard Chartered Bank, Digital, Compaq and HP.
