BDL Group, an IT distribution powerhouse in the Middle East, has appointed Roshna D’Souza as the new retail manager for the UAE and the rest of the GCC markets.

In her new role, D’Souza is responsible for managing retail sales in the UAE and GCC for distribution brands and BDL’s private label brand Quantum.

Tamer Ismail, CEO, BDL Group, said: “We are delighted to have Roshna join us to head and manage retail sales in the whole GCC market. This year BDL along with focusing on its distribution brands will also work towards further strengthening our in-house private label brand Quantum thus retailers will find our new products being launched with added improved features, new Intel-based tablets, 6-inch phablets and smartphones.”

Ismail said the GCC is a dynamic market with higher potential for growth and with more focus BDL is confident to increase and maintain its market share profitably in this region.

“Both the UAE and GCC will receive equal focus and having Roshna on board will help us to achieve our goals of profitable growth in the market,” Ismail said.

Remarking on her appointment, D’Souza said although the IT retail market in the Middle East is challenging and complex, she is delighted to have been offered the opportunity to take on this role and contribute to BDL’s profitable growth in the retail sector.

D’Souza added that a key focus is to make BDL the preferred partner for any retailer and to increase retail breadth across the UAE/GCC for all the distribution brands that BDL has within its portfolio. “This will require a clear partner strategy to strengthen presence with retailers that have already partnered with us and with those whom we are not yet present withto grow the online presence through e-retailers and power retailers across the region,” she said. “I will also focus on increasing in-store visibility for Quantum especially in the UAE.” Having said that, D’Souza pointed out that the UAE is one of the most difficult markets to penetrate and at the same time keep a stable market share. “The presence of numerous white label brands needs us to constantly be in touch with the market, release campaigns, offers and exclusive retail promotions to enhance the sellout,” she explained.

Looking ahead, D’Souza said the year has started on a steady footing for BDL and DSF was a great month for Quantum in terms of sales, visibility, presence among most of the top power retailers in the UAE and GCC. “We have our plans set for the coming months and rest of the year,” she said.

D’Souza pointed out that apart from the product offerings BDL will be actively participating in all the major exhibitions, retailer specific events, Dubai Summer Surprises and BTS.
