NEC Display Solutions enhances medical display range with MD210C2 launch

NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the launch of the NEC MD210C2, the newest addition to its range of medical diagnostic displays. It is specifically designed for viewing of colour and grayscale digital images for diagnostics image reporting in radiography as well as CT, MRI and other medical imaging techniques by trained physicians.

NEC Medical Displays“The medical market is shifting from grayscale to colour displays for diagnostics as well as from classical CCFL to less power consuming and mercury-free LED backlights,” said Ian Gobey, Middle East General Manager at NEC Display Solutions. “Today’s primary diagnostics medical staff need to cater for images from a number of sources and in different formats and they need to examine these in the highest detail possible. NEC is constantly striving to incorporate the most up-to-date technologies for these demanding digital medical imaging requirements, providing a clear upgrade and refresh path for hospitals and other medical establishments.”

The NEC MD210C2 is a 2MP flat panel display for primary diagnosis of PACS colour and grayscale digital images. It is equipped with a 21.3-inch screen, 1600 x 1200 pixel 4:3 display, featuring the best possible UA-SFT (IPS) technology for the most stable and accurate viewing performance. The combination of LED backlighting and a new human sensor, combined with a significantly smaller in-built calibration front sensor and ambient light sensor, ensure consistent performance and reduced energy consumption.

It also features NEC’s unique ‘Quick Screen QA’ feature, which allows for easy and fast PC-independent quality assurance testing. This also allows for re-calibration of the integrated front sensor and ambient light sensor according to the international IEC 62563-1 standard.

With both DisplayPort and DVI-D connectors available, connectivity is future-proofed. Similarly, an ergonomic stand that allows for 150mm height-adjust, tilt, pivot and swivel, the display is easy to install and use, whilst offering best image performance.

In keeping with its medical credentials, the MD210C2 display is seamlessly integrated into the GammaCompMD QA software suite. This software performs routine display configuration and ensures consistent image quality conforming to all necessary quality assurance standards, either locally or over the network through the optional GammaCompMD QA Server software.

The NEC model MD210C2 is a medical device Class I, following the requirements of the EU directive 93/42/EEC. To guarantee the display performance as specified, a MD210C2 display must only be used in conjunction with NEC approved display controller boards. NEC offers a choice of Matrox, AMD and Nvidia models for best imaging performance and compatibility with GammaCompMD QA software.

The NEC MD210C2 display will be available from November 2013. Each unit includes the display, power cord, DVI-D to DVI-D signal cable, DisplayPort cable, USB cable, quick reference guide, DVD with user guides and GammaCompMD Client QA software. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a standard three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight and optional warranty extension to four or five years.
