QTAB a tablet designed for the Arab World is now available

In line with Souq.com’s strategy to enhance connectivity of users in the region, the Arab world’s favourite online shopping destination today announced the availability of QTAB, a low cost, high value, tablet device.

Designed to improve connectivity and push relevant content to those on a budget in the UAE, QTAB is available at a very affordable price, and contains features which are usually associated with much more expensive devices.

4With a wealth of features and specifications, QTAB is available in black or white, runs on the Android platform, has as an 8-inch multi touch screen, 16 GB of inbuilt memory, an HDMI and USB port and full Wi-Fi connectivity, and a number of other high-quality specifications. It has also been designed with optimum audio and video capabilities to cater to the growing consumption of content through tablet devices.

Recent research from Ooyala suggests that consumption of video content through tablet devices is witnessing a huge growth spurt around the world, and time spent on watching videos on tablets increased by a massive 59% during the first half of 2013. In addition, Saudi Arabia is the biggest consumer of YouTube content, and has the highest number of YouTube views in the world per Internet user.

QTAB has also been crafted and designed to work in the education sector, and is a perfect companion for reading and education through e-books. With the rising number of tablet users, and locally-available content in the UAE, QTAB is ideally placed to fill the gap for increasing demand for consuming such content, on an affordable, yet high quality, tablet device.

“With the launch of QTAB, we want to ensure that high quality access to mobile content through tablet devices is more affordable and not just exclusively available for those with higher-end devices,” said Ronaldo Mouchawar, Souq.com’s Chief Executive Officer. “That’s why we made QTAB at an affordable price point but with features to match much more expensive devices.”

“The tablet market in the Middle East is overtaking the PC market, and Q3 sales figures show an upswing of over 208 per cent, according to IDC. Tablets on the Android OS account for around 72 per cent, and we are happy to add to this range with a ‘Designed in Dubai’ tablet.

“Considering our experience in the region, we’re also working on a content integration program and teaming up with local content providers in the UAE, to eventually provide QTAB consumers with a local, tailor-made experience full of applications and features that will make life easier for UAE consumers,” Mouchawar concluded.

QTAB is available now for purchase across the GCC as well as Egypt, at the low cost of AED499. For more information please visit www.souq.com or www.qtab.com.
